The exhibition traces the journeys of early Chinese migrants who crossed the seas aboard vessels like the Fuchuan, and the role these voyages played in shaping the foundations of modern Singapore.

This is a rare opportunity for the Singapore public to experience a full-scale Fuchuan first-hand. Fu Ning is recognised as the world's largest sea-going traditional Chinese wooden sailing boat, and its construction techniques — including watertight bulkheads, raised stern and flat bow design — are inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, making this style of shipbuilding an increasingly rare living craft. Beyond its scale and craftsmanship, the exhibition speaks directly to Singapore's own origin story: the same type of vessel once carried the early Chinese migrants whose descendants make up much of Singapore's population today, linking the exhibition to the roots of the nation's multicultural identity.
